We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Melsheimer family upon the loss of SIAA Member, Mel Melsheimer.

Obituary from Boultinghouse Funeral Home

Tennyson, IN- Life-long educator, avid adventurer, and beloved husband and uncle Melvin (Mel) Melsheimer went on more adventures than most of us could in 100 lifetimes. Mel passed away on October 19th, 2023, at the age of 80.

He was preceded in death by parents Arnold and Beth Melsheimer and siblings: Linda, Larry, and Nina. He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Joan Melsheimer, and brother Ivan.

Mel joined the Navy and went on to pursue a master’s degree in education. Melvin was a dedicated teacher, FFA leader, and agricultural enthusiast. He had a passion for seeing the world, going on as many adventures as he could, and spending time with the people that he loved.

A visitation will be held from 1 P.M. until 5 P.M. CST, on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home - Youngblood Chapel, 36 E Market St., Chrisney, IN 47611.

To allow Mel’s dedication to the FFA and his students to live on, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Heritage Hills Scholarship Foundation.
